Custom Veterinary Cages for a Veterinary Hospital in Brazil

Every veterinary hospital has different space, patient-care and workflow requirements.
For some clinics, a standard veterinary cage from a catalog is sufficient. For others, the available room dimensions or intended application require a more specific configuration.
Recently, Sinowise completed a customized veterinary cage project for a veterinary hospital in Brazil.
The customer required different cage configurations for their facility, including a multi-compartment mobile cage and a specialized single-compartment cage with an elevated working structure.
Rather than simply selecting a standard model, we developed the products according to the customer's requirements and confirmed the dimensions before production.
This project demonstrates how we approach custom veterinary cage manufacturing for international veterinary hospitals.

Custom Veterinary Cage Project for Brazil

For this Brazilian veterinary hospital project, the customer required two different cage configurations.
The two designs had different structures and intended applications.
The first configuration, PLVC-A04, is a four-compartment veterinary cage arranged in two levels.
The second configuration, PLVC-001, is a single-compartment cage positioned on a stainless steel support frame.
Although both products are veterinary cages, their structures are quite different.
This is exactly why customization can be useful for veterinary hospitals.

PLVC-A04: Four-Compartment Veterinary Cage

The first customized configuration is a four-compartment cage designed with two cages on the upper level and two on the lower level.

According to the supplied drawing, the main dimensions are:
  • Width: 122 cm
  • Depth: 70 cm
  • Overall cage structure: approximately 156 cm including the lower caster section
  • Upper compartment height: 61 cm
  • Lower compartment height: 81 cm
  • Four individual compartments
  • Mobile caster structure
The exact final dimensions and configuration should always be confirmed against the approved production drawing before manufacturing.
The two-level structure allows several individual compartments to be arranged within one mobile unit.
For a veterinary hospital, this type of configuration may be considered when the facility needs multiple individual housing spaces while making efficient use of the available floor area.

A Flexible Cage Configuration for Veterinary Hospitals

One of the key advantages of a multi-compartment cage is that the overall structure can be planned around the hospital's available space.
Instead of asking:
“Which standard cage fits our hospital?”
a project can begin with:
“This is the space we have. How many compartments do we need, and what configuration works for our application?”
This changes the equipment-selection process.
The customer can provide:
  • Available wall or floor dimensions
  • Required number of compartments
  • Preferred compartment dimensions
  • Required door arrangement
  • Mobile or fixed requirements
  • Additional functional requirements
The manufacturer can then evaluate which configuration is technically feasible.

PLVC-001: Single Veterinary Cage with Elevated Frame

The second customized design uses a different approach.

The cage itself is approximately:
  • 61 cm wide
  • 61 cm high
  • 70 cm deep
It is installed on an approximately 80 cm high stainless steel support structure, according to the supplied drawing.
This creates an elevated working position compared with placing the cage directly on the floor.
The cage also features a front door with a ventilation opening and a transparent viewing area.
The lower support structure is equipped with casters, allowing the complete unit to be moved when appropriate.
Again, the final dimensions and functions should be verified against the approved production specification.

Why Would a Veterinary Hospital Need a Customized Cage?

There are many reasons why a veterinary hospital may require something different from a standard cage.

Limited Space

A hospital may have a specific wall width or room depth that cannot accommodate standard dimensions efficiently.

Different Patient Requirements

A clinic may need different compartment sizes for different animals and applications.

Special Functional Requirements

The customer may require additional features such as ventilation openings, viewing panels, electrical components, temperature-related functions or other project-specific configurations.

Mobile Equipment

A hospital may prefer equipment that can be moved when reorganizing a treatment or inpatient area.

Existing Hospital Layout

During renovation or expansion, the new equipment may need to fit around existing walls, doors, furniture and equipment.
This is where a custom veterinary cage manufacturer can provide more value than simply supplying an off-the-shelf product.

Customization Starts with the Customer's Requirements

For an international veterinary equipment project, we recommend starting with the application rather than the product model.
Before manufacturing, customers can provide:

1. Space Dimensions

For example:
Width × Depth × Available Height
Even a simple hand-drawn floor plan can be useful.

2. Required Number of Compartments

Tell us how many animals the unit needs to accommodate and whether different compartment sizes are required.

3. Cage Structure

Customers can discuss whether they need:
  • Single-level cages
  • Two-level cages
  • Multi-compartment cage banks
  • Mobile cages
  • Elevated cages
  • Fixed cage systems

4. Door and Front Panel Design

Depending on the project, customers may have specific requirements for:
  • Door type
  • Door size
  • Viewing area
  • Ventilation openings
  • Locking mechanism
  • Front panel structure

5. Additional Functions

For specialized projects, customers can discuss additional functions that may be technically feasible for the selected design.
The important step is to confirm feasibility and specifications before production, rather than assuming every requested modification can be incorporated.

From Drawing to Finished Veterinary Cage

Our customization process is designed to make communication easier for international customers.

Step 1 — Customer Sends Requirements

The customer provides dimensions, photos, drawings or a reference product.

Step 2 — Technical Discussion

We review the intended application and discuss the required configuration.

Step 3 — Dimension Confirmation

Important dimensions and functional requirements are confirmed before production.

Step 4 — Manufacturing

The factory manufactures the customized veterinary cage according to the approved specifications.

Step 5 — Inspection

The finished products are checked before shipment.

Step 6 — International Delivery

The equipment can then be prepared for international transportation according to the agreed shipping arrangement.
This process is particularly useful for overseas veterinary hospitals because clear specifications help reduce misunderstandings before production.

Why Work with a Custom Veterinary Cage Manufacturer?

A veterinary hospital does not always need the largest or most complicated cage.
It needs a cage that works for its particular environment.
For example, a hospital may have:
A 120 cm wide space
but need:
four individual compartments
while another hospital may have:
one specialized treatment area
and require:
one elevated cage with specific front-panel features.
These are two completely different requirements.
A good supplier should therefore be able to discuss:
Space → Application → Configuration → Manufacturing → Delivery
rather than simply sending a catalog and asking the customer to choose a model.

A Customized Veterinary Cage Project Is Not Just About Size

When people hear “customization,” they often think only about changing the dimensions.
In reality, a veterinary cage project may involve several levels of customization:
Dimension customization
→ Width, depth and height
Configuration customization
→ Number and arrangement of compartments
Structural customization
→ Frame, doors, support structure and mobility
Functional customization
→ Ventilation, viewing, temperature-related or other feasible functions
Project customization
→ Equipment designed around the hospital's actual room and workflow
This Brazilian project is a good example of why a veterinary hospital should communicate its requirements before selecting the final product.
